PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE part 2 GRUP EXHIBITION part of the White Night of the Galleries Bucharest 2026

PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE part 2 GRUP EXHIBITION part of the White Night of the Galleries Bucharest 2026

Noaptea Alba a Galeriilor The 20th-anniversary edition of the White Night of the Galleries took place in Bucharest, Romania, from October 2 to 4, 2026.

Renaissance Art Gallery, based in the town of Voluntari—a suburb north of Bucharest—chose to present the second part of a project originally launched last year for NAG at R Art Space (located at 4 Gheorghe Duca Boulevard, Sector 1, Bucharest, opposite the North Railway Station), an alternative venue for art and private events.

The exhibition  “Trecut , Prezent si Viitor partea a2a la NAG20” organized by Renaissance Art Gallery and featuring artists Janne Tagg and Mihai Rauta was a non-commercial project. It drew the viewer’s attention to works focusing on fragility and sustainability, created by two artists with whom the contemporary art gallery has long collaborated.

For Oana Vișoiu, the curator of events at  R Art Space, this exhibition represents a continuation of the “Past, Present, and Future” concept introduced at the NAG 2025 edition. It serves as a personal meditation on continuity, our purpose in life, and what we leave behind—not only in material terms but, more importantly, in a spiritual sense.

PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE as part of the White Night of the Galleries 2026

ARTISTS: Mihai Rauta & Jane Tagg

CURATOR: Oana Visoiu Cutucache

GALLERIST: Oana Visoiu Cutucache

The opening exhibition, curated by Oana Vișoiu for the White Night of the Galleries, brings together two contemporary visual artists:

* Jane Tagg, with the series “Danube Delta – Strength through Fragility” – consisting of vibrant installations made from recyclable materials; these evoke the fragility—yet also the regenerative power—of nature, while simultaneously representing the transition from the grayness of ruins or still life to color and life.

The ecosystem’s fragile nature is rendered through the medium and delicate structure of the paper sculptures.

* Mihai Rauță, with two series:

STEALTH – urban ghosts (specifically owls), stalked and photographed by Mihai over the course of a decade

&

XEX Libris – an art installation featuring immense banners cascading from the ceiling; these reinterpret images from a unique photo-narrative captured in the aftermath of a nightclub fire in Bucharest, Romania. All images were captured exactly as found—marked and imprinted by fire, rain, wind, vagrants, thieves, or metal scrapers.

Mihai Rauță is a conceptual artist who uses photography as a form of meditation.

His photographic encounters are spontaneous—most occur during brief walks in the early morning or late evening through Bucharest with Busy, his lucky Jack Russell Terrier.

Six years ago, inspired by a course taken with New Age Photography, he began studying—first through observation and later through his own photographs—the silent flight of Bucharest’s wild birds.

“I am neither a photographer nor an artist.”

I simply… AM.

For Oana Vișoiu—curator of events at R Art Space—this exhibition continues the concept developed for the 2025 edition of NAG, “Past, Present, and Future,” which represents a personal meditation on continuity, our purpose in life, and what we leave behind—both materially and, more importantly, spiritually. Through aesthetics and community, in October 2025 she transformed an old, dusty space into a vibrant venue where art bridged the past and present, opening up a possible future. The group exhibition “Past, Present, and Future” (Part 2) also marks the market launch of a new concept for R Art Space by Renaissance Art Gallery. Originally created as a pop-up for the 2025 White Night of the Art Galleries (NAG), the project aimed to show how a SPACE could transform from something of the “PAST”—a term we can play with to imply something outdated, dusty, or without a future—into something of the “PRESENT” and, ultimately, a “FUTURE” shaped by art. Surprisingly, art truly helped forge a future for this space located opposite Bucharest’s North Railway Station; it grew organically and developed its own identity, with ongoing opportunities to exhibit art between NAG editions. Furthermore, since part of the space was subsequently rented by two talented young entrepreneurs—creators of the mobile bartending and artistic cocktail business *Bartendart Creations*—we decided to join forces for the 2026 NAG. Together, we are launching R ART SPACE, an alternative venue for art and private events where the walls are curated by Renaissance Art Gallery. This space showcases both artists represented by the gallery and independent artists; the latter—through an “art & cocktail” package—benefit from Oana Visoiu’s (Renaissance Art Gallery) expertise in curation, art marketing, and collector outreach, alongside cocktails specially crafted for their openings by *Bartendart Creations*.
